Back in 2022, we had the chance to work with Skyeport Farm Thoroughbreds, just outside of Horsham. This was a big job that called for a mix of fencing styles to suit different parts of the property, and the end result came together really well.
Out the front, we put in about 400 metres of mortised post and two-rail fencing. It gives the property a strong, clean look from the road, while tying in with some smaller matching sections around the house yard. It’s always satisfying when the front of a place sets the tone for what’s inside.
Because foaling is such an important part of the stud, we built two dedicated paddocks with horse mesh for mares and foals. These were designed to be safe and practical, making life easier for both the horses and the people working with them. Along the driveway and laneways, we used post and electrified rail fencing to keep everything moving smoothly – safe, straightforward, and built to last.
Towards the back of the farm, where bigger paddocks were needed for spelling, we went with shockcoat fencing. It’s a more cost-effective option, but still tough enough to handle the job and cover those longer stretches without blowing the budget.
To wrap it all up, we finished with a proper statement entrance – automatic, powder-coated gates that not only secure the property but also look the part. It’s the kind of finishing touch that pulls everything together.
At Ballarat Rural Fencing, jobs like this are what we enjoy most – finding the right mix of fencing for each part of a property and seeing it all come together. Skyeport Farm Thoroughbreds now has fencing that works hard behind the scenes but also gives the place the polished look it deserves.
